Kazi Nazrul Islam was born 24th May 1899
in the district of Bordoman and village Suruliya. His father’s name is Kazi
Fakir Ahamed and his mother’s name is Jayeda Khatun. His father was an Imam of
a local mosque. They were three brothers and three sisters along him. His nick
name was Dhuku Miah. He is our national poet. In 1908 when he was 8 years old
he lost his father.
So for his economic problem he was unable to get proper
education and he completed his study after class six. Nazrul joined at Army in
1917. He stayed there in 1917 to 1920. He got married in 1921. His wife’s name
is Promila Dabi. His news paper “Dumkatu” was published in 12 August 1922. He
wrote Many poems, nobles, dramas, literatures etc for us. His ribald poem
“Bidrohi” is famous to all. He had been suffering from dangerous diseases for
long time. In 1953 he and his wife were sent in London for proper treatment.
After taking treatment they came back in 14th December 1953. He died
29th August 1976 in Dhaka PG Hospital. For his great achievement we
still remember him with great respect.
